La Veta Eskies is dedicated to breeding healthy, happy and social American Eskimo dogs. Our dogs are UKC and AKC registered, and undergo thorough health testing to ensure their well-being. We take pride in our breeding and strive to provide wonderful companions to loving homes. Our puppies come with: a copy of their parent's genetic clearances, first vaccines, a health certificate, and a "healthy puppy guarantee" for the first year. As a physician, I understand the importance of testing and sound genetic choices as well as early neurodevelopmental support for the puppies. Our main priority is ensuring the health and well-being of all our puppies from birth until they leave with their forever family - and beyond. We invite you to become a forever part of the La Veta Eskie Family!

Deposits, Fees, and What to Expect
At La Veta Eskies, we take the breeding of American Eskimo Dogs very seriously. It is a lot of work, and of course, a lot of fun. The testing prior to and during pregnancy is expensive, but is critical for the very best outcomes. Females will have an ultrasound at around 4 weeks gestation to confirm pregnancy (and get a good guess at the number of puppies). They later will have an x-ray about 3-5 days before delivery to confirm the number of puppies to be delivered and that the size is safe for the female to deliver on her own (vs. via C-section).
Testing and registering puppies as well as providing vaccinations, early neurological stimulation and desensitization is all part of what we consider standard practice at La Veta Eskies. Your puppy will be raised using the "Puppy Culture" approach that include ENS/ESI. They will have several exams and their first set of vaccinations before going home. Your puppy will also be AKC and UKC dually registered. Your puppy will be microchipped for his or her safety if they ever become separated from you. We ensure that our sires and dams are health tested as per the recommendations of the American Eskimo Dog Club of America. This includes: DM, PRA, OFA or PennHip.
Showing our dogs is also expensive but it holds us to a very high bar when breeding. Breed standards are in place for a reason, our dogs compete very well in the ring. Toys and Miniature Eskies have fairly small litters - most often only 2 or 3 puppies. The cost of breeding is therefore a much higher percentage of the fee than for dogs who have larger litters. So our Miniature Eskies puppies are treasures indeed!
If you have decided that one of our little puppers is meant to join your family, then please fill out the Puppy Waitlist Application as soon as possible. The payment schedule for a La Veta Eskie Miniature American Eskimo Puppy is as follows:
-An initial Puppy Waitlist Deposit due once application is approved and puppies are expected.
-The remainder of the Puppy Reservation will be due once a puppy is reserved
-Final balance of Puppy Fee will be due once the puppy is picked up at about 9 weeks old..
If you are interested in a puppy for a pet home, show contract or a breeding rights contract, please reach out to discuss terms and fees.
If you are on the waitlist and there is not a puppy that matches your needs in the next planned litter (e.g. gender), your deposit will keep you on the waitlist so that you may match with a puppy in an upcoming litter.
We do not expect health issues with our puppies, but in the very unlikely case that your puppy is determined to have health issues related to breeding in the first year, we will take him or her back and will be happy to provide care for that puppy. If you ever decide that you cannot keep your puppy (or dog) for any reason, we request that you return the dog to our care so that we can make sure they transition well.

While we will love the little puppies beyond imagination, it is only the joy in your face when you meet your new best friend, that will make parting with them at around 9 weeks bearable for us. Once a La Veta Eskie puppy, always a La Veta Eskie Puppy. And you are an important part of that family. We hope you join us!
